About these terms

These terms cover your use of Censible: this website, the Censible app, the API and the MCP server for AI assistants. By creating an account or using Censible, you agree to them. "We" and "us" means the people who run Censible, and "you" means you, or the organisation you use Censible for.

Your account

You sign in with your email address and either a password or a link we email you. Keep your password and access to that email secure, because anyone who has either can use your account. An account is for one person. Tell us if you think someone else has used yours.

Plans and limits

Each plan has daily limits, such as the number of places you can open or PDFs you can export. You can see your plan and today's use on the Usage page. Limits reset at midnight Sydney time. We may change a plan's limits, and we'll tell you before a change that reduces what you can do on a plan you've paid for. The price of a paid plan is agreed with you before you're charged.

Using the figures

Censible's figures are built from Australian Bureau of Statistics data and other open government sources, listed on the Data and sources page.

You can use the figures you get from Censible in your own work: in reports, presentations, decisions and advice for your clients. When you publish them, please credit them as "Source: Censible, based on ABS Census data".

You can't copy Censible's data in bulk. That means no scraping, no automated downloading beyond what the API and MCP server allow within your plan's limits, no reselling or redistributing the figures as a dataset, and no using Censible to build a competing data product.

Your content

The sites, figures and areas you add to Censible stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only so we can provide Censible to you.

Only upload information you have the right to use. Please don't upload personal information about individuals, such as your customers' home addresses. Censible is built for places, not people.

Using Censible fairly

Don't use Censible to break the law, to get around its limits or security, to interfere with other people's use of it, or to share your account. We may suspend or close an account that does, and we'll tell you why unless the law or security stops us.

Accuracy

We work hard to get the figures right, and every recipe is tested against the ABS's own published figures. But many figures are estimates: worked out for areas the ABS doesn't publish, carried onto newer boundaries, or projected to 2026 and 2031. The ABS also adds small random changes to counts to protect privacy, which matters most in small areas. The Data and sources page explains how each kind of figure is made.

Censible gives you information, not professional advice. Check anything important before you rely on it, such as a decision to buy, lease or build.

AI assistants

When you connect an AI assistant, it uses Censible on your behalf and counts towards your limits. The assistant writes its own answers, and it can misread or misstate figures, so check anything that matters against Censible itself.

Changes to Censible

Censible is new and changing quickly. We may add, change or remove features. If we stop offering Censible altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can export or record what you need.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes the guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded. Apart from those, and to the extent the law allows, Censible is provided as it is, and we aren't liable for any indirect loss, or for loss of profit, revenue or data. Where our liability can be limited, it's limited to supplying the service again or to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending your use

You can stop using Censible at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales can hear any dispute about them.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect, and if you keep using Censible after that, the new terms apply.
